Antonine Maillet

The Larousse dictionary defines her as "Cantor of l’Acadie", because all her work recounts the stories of her people, its laughs and its sorrows, its setbacks and its successes, its dreams, its aspirations ... Antonine Maillet has made l’Acadie known to the world.
Ms. Maillet is a recipient of the Prix Goncourt in 1979 for her book
Pélagie-la-Charrette.
Prolific author, it is hard to say how many books Antonine Maillet wrote without being wrong. Among her most famous pieces,
La Sagouine, is published by Leméac in 1971.
